Our Custom Application Capabilities

Interlink Electronics burst on to the technological scene in 1985 with the invention and marketing of the Force Sensing Resistor (FSR), but that auspicious debut only represents a fraction of our modern capabilities. From custom sensors to bespoke HMI integrations, we have worked on specialized projects with companies of all sizes in a plethora of industries. Our sensor technology has been included in such diverse products as oncological radiotherapy equipment, personal transport devices, and professional-grade power tools. In the automotive segment alone, we pioneered the development of touch activated self-deploying car door handles and created resistive touch interfaces for major car manufacturers.

Our custom projects can be as basic as making simple modifications to existing sensors. We offer standard sensors in a range of shapes and sizes, but given the tight space tolerances and specific dimensions required by most products, our clients often need modified versions. Not only can we change the shape and size of our sensors, we can create arrays of sensors that can detect changes in positions and variable forces (think foot pressure sensors that measure gait). We can also customize our standard HMI products for integration into preexisting designs or productssuch as industrial machinery, laptops, portable devices, etc.

However, our many areas of in-house expertise give us the ability to create much more involved custom applications. No matter what lifecycle stage your product is infrom initial design to manufacturingwe can work with your team to create a custom sensing solution and integrate it into your device. In the rare case that we cannot offer a complete solution, we can depend on our trusted network of third parties to augment our technology to meet your specific requirements. So, whether you need to switch out an existing solution, try out some tech for a prototype, or just have a design in the works, Interlink's custom applications team wants to help you today! The Cutting Edge of Custom Sensors

The technological landscape is always shifting, but there are clear indicators that some of the largest areas for growth are in the IoT and wearables sectors. Even with the impact of the 2020 pandemic, according to the IDC, the IoT sector is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.3% between 2020 and 2024, while the wearables market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 12.4% over the same period.
