Mouse Pointing Solutions · 4-Zone FSR
Ultra-thin 4-zone mouse pointing sensor based on FSR® technology
The 4-Zone FSR® (Force Sensing Resistor®) paired with a suitable actuator and controller IC can be implemented as a finger-actuated "mouse" pointing module. The pointing module provides accurate 360° mouse control. Users control direction by applying pressure in the direction of the desired movement and adjust speed by altering the amount of pressure. The 4-Zone FSR is a combination of four basic FSRs arranged in a north/south/east/west pattern, with each zone interpenetrating into the two zones on either side of it. This overlapping allows the controller to determine how much force is in each zone relative to the others, from which the direction and speed of the cursor are calculated. These sensors require a microcontroller containing Interlink's proprietary measurement algorithms.
