Frequently Asked Questions

Use the FAQs below to learn how Micronav sensor-based interface products can give the consumer intuitive control over device functions, while differentiating your portable electronics products, lowering costs and reducing development timelines.

MicroNav Interface Solutions

MicroNav interface solutions from Interlink Electronics are compact, energy efficient, cost-effective, components that offer proven interface functionality for mobile handsets, digital media players, satellite radios, GPS systems, game controllers, remote controls and more. Micronav sensors offer reduced form-factors and are compact enough to be integrated into even the tiniest handheld device. Finally, MicroNav components offer proven usability and durability and are supported by Interlink's team of sales, mechanical and firmware engineers.

MicroNav interface solutions, which use Interlink Electronics' patented Force Sensing Resistor technology, use only a small fraction of the energy required by other capacitive controls. Further, MicroNav components are passive, drawing power only when in use; while capacitive solutions typically require power continuously.

No. Micronav interface sensors typically use the host device main microprocessor allowing a cost-down solution in a reduced development cycle. Firmware integration is fully supported by our MicroNav sales engineering and firmware engineering teams.

MicroNav solutions provide the industry's richest array of user interface functionality for mobile phones, digital media players, tablet PCs, GPS systems, satellite radios, game controllers, remote controls and more. MicroNav interface functionality includes: (1) rapid menu scrolling with scroll-wheel or touch-array controls, (2) 360-degree pointing including mouse pointing for converged devices, (3) touchpad menuing, mouse and pen input functions, (4) touch-sensitive analog controls, 4/8 way switching, and more.

MicroNav interface solutions are extremely durable in many cases having tested lifetimes that exceed those of the host device itself. Typical tested lifetimes of MicroNav sensor solutions range between 1-2 million actuations. MicroNav solutions have also proven themselves over the past few years in real life consumer appliations and are used today by LG, Siemens, Pantech, iRiver, SONOS and others.
