VersaPad resistive touchpad tests

February 4, 2011

The VersaPad is Interlink's resistive touchpad for robust mousing applications. In this blog, we cover two types of tests.

Cycle Test

The Cycle Test or Life Test simulates years of wear by exercising the entire active area of the VersaPad. This is one of the many tests implemented to ensure high product reliability.

The videos are shared in our YouTube channel - InterlinkElectronics. Here are the links:

The test is done by applying a downward force of 150+ grams though a stylus tip as the units are moved in both the x and y directions. The number of strokes in both x-axis plus y-axis directions across the VersaPad's active area add up to over 5 million stylus strokes. This in turn gives a total travel distance that is greater than the 118 mile minimum that the VersaPad design must endure in order to pass Interlink's stringent specifications.

Cold Operational Test

Here, the VersaPad is getting ready to run the Cold Operational Test, which puts the VersaPad at 0° C for 96 hours without failure.
