The FSR 408 is part of the one-zone Force Sensing Resistor™ family. It is a strip sensor of 0.2" (5.08 mm) wide with a length of 23.985" (609.22 mm) active area (15mm part width (0.6" part width) in size. However this sensor can be manufactured in other sizes.
Force Sensing Resistors™, or FSR™, are robust polymer thick film (PTF) devices. FRSs exhibit a decrease in resistance with an increase of pressure to its surface. This force sensitivity is optimized for use in various applications such as human touch, control of electronic devices, automotive electronics, medical systems and industrial PCs.
