Engineer Intern / Co-Op Mechanical

Overview
Interlink is seeking a college engineering student for an intern or Co-Op position. The successful candidate will work alongside and support mechanical project engineers in their various product development and R&D projects. The student will learn and assist with mechanical design, electrical design, coordinating and building prototypes, testing prototypes, and engineering documentation.

Experience
The qualified candidate will be enrolled in an engineering or physics degree program to obtain a bachelors degree. Experience and knowledge of AutoCad and drafting is greatly desired. The student must also demonstrate academic excellence, initiative, organization, communication skills and the desire to problem solve.

Main duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Engineers with the following possible tasks…
    • AutoCad design of force sensors
    • AutoCad detailing of assembly and component drawings
    • Prototype build coordination and execution
    • Sensor testing, data compilation, and initial analysis
    • Teardown analysis and problem documentation
    • Competitive analysis by testing and teardown with follow up documentation
    • Engineering Test Plans and Reports
    • Manage engineering documentation and drawings with our change control software
    • Creation and maintenance of cost estimation spreadsheets
    • Solving issues relating to manufacturing, quality, and performance
    • Special R&D projects
  • Able and willing to work 24-40 hours per week

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Enrolled in a engineering or physics degree or transfer program
  • Effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing
  • Computer skills using AutoCAD, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge and experience with ANSI Y 14.5M-1994 and GD&T a plus
  • General knowledge of electrical circuit theory a plus

Learning Experience:

The student will experience engineering product development along with learning membrane switch manufacturing methods including silk screen printing, die cutting, thin film lamination, and laser cutting.
